Chief Engineer - Modirum | Gespi

About the Opportunity

Modirum | Gespi is hiring a Chief Engineer to lead engineering across the company.

This is a broad role with one clear mandate: build an engineering organization that can take good designs and turn them into dependable products at production scale. You will define how engineering work is run from early concept through industrialization and sustainment, and you will make sure that process is consistent across programs.

A central responsibility is to establish a clear Modirum | Gespi engineering identity: high standards, technical rigor, traceability, and accountability in every team. The goal is not just better individual projects, but a repeatable way of engineering that holds up under growth, regulatory pressure, and safety-critical requirements.

Your Role in the Team

As Chief Engineer, you will set the operating model and technical standard for the entire engineering function. You will:

- Own and define the end-to-end engineering operating model across product lines, from concept to production and sustainment

- Establish common engineering standards and governance, including design reviews, readiness gates, change control, and documentation expectations

- Drive consistency in engineering decisions, validation methods, and technical records across programs

- Ensure alignment between product strategy, engineering execution, and manufacturability

- Lead the transition of working designs into industrialized production through clear readiness criteria, pilot builds, qualification plans, and release evidence

- Act as final technical authority for cross-domain trade-offs, architectural decisions, and major technical risks

- Build a culture of engineering discipline, traceability, and accountability, especially in regulated and safety-critical domains

- Define capability roadmaps for tools, methods, and competencies to raise engineering maturity over time

- Mentor senior engineers and technical leaders; raise the technical bar across the organization

- Ensure lessons learned, field feedback, and production data are fed back into engineering standards and day-to-day practice

- Represent engineering credibility and rigor in executive, customer, and authority-facing forums

- Partner with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and EHS to keep development and production tightly connected

Qualifications

- Master's degree or higher in engineering or a related technical field

- 10+ years of engineering experience in regulated hardware, defense, aerospace, industrial systems, or similar domains

- Proven record of moving working designs into production at scale (design transfer, qualification, production ramp, or manufacturing release)

- Demonstrated experience building and enforcing engineering processes across teams, not just within a single program

- Strong understanding of product development lifecycle management, verification and validation, traceability, and configuration control

- Solid grasp of design-for-manufacture principles and production-readiness planning

- Strong analytical judgment and ability to resolve technical conflicts with clear trade-off reasoning

- Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders

- Fluency in English
