Job Purpose

Lead the structuring, evolution, and consolidation of the Data function responsible for supporting a specific business unit at ExitLag. This role ensures that data is reliable, accessible, and properly modeled so analysts and business teams can easily consume it to drive decision-making.

The Data Manager will connect data strategy with business execution, ensuring that data initiatives align with business priorities and generate measurable impact. This role will be responsible for establishing the technical foundations, processes, and governance necessary to scale data usage across the organization while enabling insights, analytics, and experimentation that support strategic decisions.


Key Responsibilities

Data Team Structure & Data Infrastructure

  • Build and structure the Data function supporting a specific business area.
  • Design and implement processes, integrations, and pipelines required for efficient data collection, transformation, and storage.
  • Develop scalable data pipelines to support ingestion, transformation, and delivery of business-critical data.

Data Architecture & Modeling

  • Define and evolve the organization’s data modeling strategy to ensure consistency, reliability, and ease of consumption.
  • Ensure proper documentation of datasets, metrics, and data structures.

Stakeholder Management & Prioritization

  • Define and manage the data roadmap aligned with short- and mid-term business priorities.
  • Act as the main liaison between the Data team and business leadership.
  • Ensure clarity around scope, expectations, timelines, and deliverables for data initiatives.

Data Governance & Quality

  • Establish and enforce best practices in data governance, quality, reliability, and security.
  • Monitor and ensure the integrity and trustworthiness of data used in decision-making.

Analytics & Business Insights

  • Structure dashboards, metrics frameworks, and analytical models that support strategic decision-making.
  • Translate data into actionable insights that drive business growth and operational efficiency.
  • Support experimentation initiatives, including A/B testing and hypothesis validation.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Data team, fostering technical growth, autonomy, and a high-performance culture.
  • Act hands-on when necessary, supporting architecture decisions, complex analysis, and problem-solving.

Communication & Strategic Alignment

  • Communicate insights, results, and data-driven recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the company’s broader data strategy by aligning technical capabilities with business needs.


Technical Requirements

  • Fluent English (ability to communicate with international stakeholders).
  • Solid experience in data engineering and data architecture in scalable environments.
  • Proven experience building or restructuring data teams or data functions.
  • Strong experience with data pipelines (ETL/ELT), Data Lakes, and Data Warehouses.
  • Advanced SQL proficiency and strong understanding of data modeling best practices.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data security frameworks.
  • Previous experience leading technical teams or managing data professionals.


Nice to Have

  • Experience with advanced analytics, statistics, or data science initiatives.
  • Experience leading experimentation frameworks and A/B testing programs.
  • Background in technology companies, digital platforms, or high-scale data environments.
